Obituary for Harold Dean Lund

In Loving Memory
Harold Dean Lund
April 18, 1938 - December 14, 2018

Harold Dean Lund, 80, passed away at Park Plaza in Walla Walla. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 3:30pm at the College Place Village Church where he was a member. A Private Burial was held at Mount Hope Cemetery in College Place.
Harold was born to Thorvald Jensen Lund and Lulu Bell (Wentland) Lund in Spokane, WA on April 18, 1938. The family moved to Walla Walla from Electric City, WA where his father worked on the Grand Coulee Dam in the ‘40a. Harold began his working career while a student at Rogers Elementary School delivering papers for the Union Bulletin. He later added a motor route before joining the US Army. He held the record for delivering papers longer than any other carrier to that date. He was proud harvesting asparagus before school for neighbors in the Campbell Road neighbored.
Harold also attended the Walla Walla College (WWVA) Academy and Walla Walla College (WWU). He married Lora Lee (Long) Lund in Grandview, WA on September 11, 1972. When he returned from the Army in Germany, he continued with his father in the family construction business, T.J. Lund and Son. During his career spanning nearly 60 years he built many commercial and residential structures and loved his time on any kind of backhoe and dump truck. He worked throughout the Pacific Northwest and had contractor’s licenses for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California. Harold built two hallmark structures for WWU; Havstad Alumni Center and Lindgren Hall at Rosario Marine Biology Station, Anacortes, WA. He had a heart for the homeless and was proud of his workers who contributed to the projects he completed. Two days prior to his passing he helped pour a concrete sidewalk. His life was filled with his work and family. He passed away in his sleep.
Harold is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lora Lee Lund, two daughters; Jamie Lund (Alan) Widman, Stacy Lund (Steve) Hermann, two sons; Douglas Lund, Michael Lund, one sister, Sharon Lund (Roger) O’Neil, one grandson, Tanner Lund. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice through the funeral home. Friends and family may share memories and sign the online guestbook at www.mountainview-colonialdewitt.com
